Building a Home

Housing employs local Force Account Labor in its construction projects. Housing is proud to say that many of our Housing participants have constructed the homes they are living in. The picture below shows workers building a home that was completed in October, 2003.

The walkways and driveway are completed.
The roof, siding, and plumbing are under construction.

This method of activity is in line with HUD's goals of making communities more livable, improving economic conditions in distressed communities, and creating decent jobs for low-income persons. Shown below is a ramp installed for a handicapped/disabled resident.

The house is shown finished along with the addition of a ramp.

The house was completed in October of 2003 and constructed (in part) with a Title VI Loan and NAHASDA funding. This ramp was built using grant funding from NAHASDA, the Nevada State Division of Aging, and USDA.
