There are many issues of great concern to the Fallon Business Council for the betterment of the Tribe and its Members. Issues such as land, water, wildlife, hunting, the Tribal Constitution & Bylaws, enrollment, health, children, education, law enforcement, law & order codes, economic development, etc., are vital to the well-being of Tribal Members as well as the future of the Tribe.

I am making an important report to the Tribal Membership:
In the 2008 Election, an error was made that eliminated the ability of either the Fallon Business Council or the Membership to remove a Council Member.
What Happened

Secretary Laura Nihoa, representing Chairman Alvin Moyle and Western Shoshone Tribal Members, attended a briefing called by Senator Reid on the status of the Western Shoshone Claims. That meeting was held on August 27, 2009, at the BIA Western Nevada Agency in Carson City. Approximately 35-40 people were present for the meeting, including the following officials:

Ernest Glenn Baldwin, 63, life long Fallon resident, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 at his home with his family by his side; after a six month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ernie was born July 29, 1946 in Fallon to Lavinos and Tillie (Graham) Baldwin. He attended Churchill County schools, graduating from Churchill County High School in 1965. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years, part of that being in Viet Nam. Ernie had worked at Dodge Island while attending high school. Upon his return …

The Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe has 1, 297 members. The Tribe demographics are interesting because of the break down. Where do you fit in the demographics?
There are a total of 590 males and 707 females.
The 01-17 age groups consist of 173 males and 167 females.
The 18-34 age groups consist of 192 males and 221 females.
The 35-50 age groups consist of 129 males and 160 females.
The 51-70 age groups consist of 76 males and 127 females.
The 71+ age group consists of 20 males and 32 females.

Richard Hicks joined the ancients in the Happy Hunting Grounds on Thursday, March 19, 2009, where he rodeos and tells stories about those he left behind in the grand tradition of his Shoshone ancestors. Richard was born on December 24, 1935 to Albert and Lorraine (Williams) Hicks. He attended the Fallon Day School on the reservation and graduated from Churchill County High School, Fallon, Nevada in 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Vivian “Susie” Cushman, and started a family. He joined the National Guard, worked as a ranch hand, …
