Renewable Energy Feasibility Study and Energy Conservation Study

The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to conduct a renewable energy feasibility study and energy conservation study.  The proposed project is to evaluate and document the potential for development of a variety of renewable energy projects, and to conduct an energy conservation study and provide an implementation plan for energy conservation, on the Tribe’s Reservation and Colony.  To download a copy of the RFP, click here to go to the Fallon Tribal Development Corporation’s website.

The Fallon Tribal Development Corporation held their annual board meeting on June 29, 2009 and voted on new officer selections: Jon Pishion, President – membership expires 2011; Rulan Stands, Vice-Chairman – membership expires 2011; Janet Allen, Secretary – membership expires 2010; Tim Lawson, Treasurer – membership expires 2010 and David Nihoa, Board Member – membership expires 2012.

David Nihoa Appointed to FTDC Board of Directors

At the June 22, 2009, FTDC Owners Meeting, the Fallon Business Council appointed David K. Nihoa to serve a 3-year term on the Fallon Tribal Development Corporation’s Board of Directors. Mr. Nihoa was selected from two candidates put forth by the FTDC Board of Directors. Fox Peak Station Fernley, the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe’s newest convenience store, smoke shop and gas station will host their grand opening on May 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will feature Tribal dignitaries and VIP guests with live music by Raymond Oneil and the Flashbacks. The first 2 hours – 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Fox Peak Station Fernley will give away free hot dogs and Pepsi; and will be offering discounted gas. Chad Coverston is the new Fallon Tribal Development Corporation’s Internet Service Coordinator and states “I’m excited to be here.” Mr. Coverston was hired under the Rural Development Utilities Programs $410,000 grant to build a rural community connect broadband project servicing the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe with broadband internet service. The project will take 3-6 months before the first computers are online.
 
Mr. Coverston has over 5 years experience, with Radco Communications, building the communication towers from the ground up for the Clearwire Broadband Systems in Reno, Carson, Minden and Chico, California.
