If you answered yes, check out the Tribal Senior Program’s Elder Chore Services
The Elder Chore Service is a free service for eligible residents of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribal Reservation and Colony.
This service is available from June 24 through August 6, 2010.
The services will be provided by one of three Summer Associates who are working with the Education and Senior Programs
This program has limited space and will be provided on a first come, first serve basis!

Just one week before the 5th Global Celebration of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Fallon Tribal Senior Program will host its first ever Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the Tribal Gymnasium on Tuesday, June 8th. The event will run from 9AM – 2PM with registration lasting until 9:30AM. We are happy to announce that there are two Community Gardens for the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe. A community garden is a great way to learn about growing your own food with family, friends, and neighbors. The larger plot is located on the Reservation, near the Tribal Gym. The other plot is located at the Colony, near the Tribal Health Clinic. These garden projects were made possible through a grant project called Project Orange Thumb. The 2010 Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe Calendar benefitting the Senior Center will be available for purchase in mid-November 2009. Calendars will also be available on the FPST website.
Senior Fun Day participants voted on their favorite ideas for the 2010 Tribal Calendar. The votes came in and the “Generations Calendar” won. Beverly Hicks submitted the winning idea. The “Generations Calendar” will include pictures of people from different generations taking part in activities together. For example, grandparent’s caring for their grandchildren or a father helping his daughter with her homework.

In 1987, a group of American Indian Elders approached Steve Wilson, who was starting one of the first Older Americans Act Title VI programs in the country, and asked for help in identifying resources for senior service programs on tribal lands. The NSAIE was founded and the Board of Directors was identified from tribal programs across the country, specifically from tribes that were also applying for and starting OAA Title VI programs.

The 2009 SENIOR FUN DAY CELEBRATION will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Tribal Gymnasium. The staff will be serving a good, nutritious lunch, giving out raffle tickets, providing games and entertainment for the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Seniors and Seniors from other reservations.
