Tribal Members have asked questions regarding the Finance Department and the condition of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe’s financial picture. I am unable to answer those questions because of incomplete records. CFO Group, the Tribe’s auditing firm recommended hiring consultants to reconcile the Tribe’s financial records. When the reconciliation is completed, CFO Group will be able to complete the 2008 and 2009 audits. We will be able to answer financial questions and finalize the 2010 Tribal Budget then.

I was elected the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe Treasurer in October, 2006. The Tribal Treasurer’s responsibilities are listed in the Bylaws of the Tribal Constitution and Bylaws:

Tribal water user’s rate will increase to $30.00 per month; water users on the Tribal sewer system will increase to $45.00 per month effective June 1, 2009.
At the January 13, 2009 Council meeting, the Council voted to increase the water rates to pay for the increased maintenance costs of the water system. Water rates have not increased for 10 years, however the Tribe can no longer maintain the water system at the current rates.
