Pishion wins second term as Tribal Treasurer

Jon Pishion was re-elected to a second term as the Fallon Business Council Treasurer after defeating challenger Ermert Nihoa at the December 20, 2014 Tribal Election. This was the second election for the Treasurer position after an Election Tribunal ordered a new election back in October 2014. At the December 20th election, 243 tribal members voted and Pishion received 143 votes (58.85%) while Nihoa received 95 votes (39.09%). After the challenge period passed with no challenges filed against the second election, Chairman Len George administered the oath of office to Pishion on December 30, 2014. When asked for a comment regarding his second term, Pishion stated “I am thankful to the members of the Tribe for their support in providing me the opportunity to serve the Tribe for a second term and I look forward to working with both the Council and the tribal members to improve our Tribe and community. We need to continue to move the Tribe forward with strong economic development and financial management, as well as promoting educational opportunities for all members, while also continuing to protect our culture, traditions, and history.” Pishion indicated that he will continue his open door policy and that any tribal member can contact him on their issues or if they any questions on the finances of the Tribe.
