Rochanne Downs, is the Project Coordinator for the Great Basin Inter-Tribal NAGPRA Coalition. Rochanne has been actively involved with the coalition since its inception in 1999. Rochanne is a graduate of California State University, Chico with BA degrees in Geography and History and has been employed with the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe since 1998.

Rochanne is a member of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe and also serves her Tribal community as a Tribal Council Member. Rochanne has been actively involved in cultural resource protection, repatriation, and cultural education for the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe since she returned to the Reservation in 1998. Rochanne is part of the Spirit Cave repatriation team designated by the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe to work toward the repatriation of the Spirit Cave Remains. Rochanne believes that it is our inherit cultural responsibility to bring our ancestors home as well as protect the all burials and sacred places for our future generations.

Rochanne works closely with and depends on the knowledge and guidance of Great Basin Elders and Spiritual Leaders for all Coalition activities. Rochanne considers herself a worker bee working to gather information to share with Great Basin Tribes on repatriation and cultural preservation. She enjoys her work and the relationships that she has developed and continue to develop by working with Tribes throughout the nation.

Rochanne is a dedicated to her Tribe, the Coalition and most importantly her family. Her husband Scott, son Gaylen, and daughter Sadoni are the light of her life and keep her motivated to the continued protection of Tribal resources.
