POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Emergency Management Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator.  This is a Regular Part-Time position that provides administrative support and general assistance to the Emergency Management Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists with preparing documents and materials for meetings, trainings, exercises, and emergency operations.
  2. Assists with organization and filing documents of meetings, trainings, exercises, and emergency operations.
  3. Assist with purchasing and procurement of material, equipment, supplies and services.
  4. Assists with acquiring, inventorying and distribution of equipment and supplies.
  5. Assist with emergency operations such as drive-thru deliveries in the Tribal or neighboring Tribal Communities.
  6. Assist with community outreach including newsletter articles, flyers and/or events.
  7. Assist with community notifications including door-to-door notices.
  8. Other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Preferred to have two (2) years college credits in a related field; or two (2) years professional experience in an administrative or public safety field.
  3. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with the public especially in difficult and stressful situations.
  4. Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
  5. Ability to use good judgement and effectively solve problems.
  6. Ability to define problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  7. Ability to comprehend, retain and apply Tribal, Federal, State, local policies, procedures, and written instructions.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must have ability to communicate effectively with other members of the staff, supervisors, and the public.
  2. Must have ability to communicate in both written and verbal form.
  3. Must be competent with standard office equipment, computer and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  4. Must be able to successfully complete ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 within three (3) months of hire.Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.Must be able to take direction and complete tasks assigned in the time specified.Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license and be insurable under the FPST or Tribal Insurance policies.The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, sitting, standing, reaching, walking, lifting and/or move (up to 25 pounds) and repetitive motions. 
  5. The duties of this job include working in outdoor environments heat/cold for extended periods as well as in an office setting.
