PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
This position is responsible for planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Public Works Department including drinking water system, sanitation, solid waste collection, equipment rental and the maintenance of facilities, parks, roads, water, wastewater and storm drainage systems, as well as the development and review of public works and capital improvement projects and programs; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the supervisor. This position is full-time and is considered a working director position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be needed, such as attendance at council meetings, snowplowing, water main breaks, or other call-out work may be required as job duties demand. The Public Works Director will take on-call shifts (evenings, weekends and holidays) and will be expected to supervise, assist and participate in projects and work in the field. Qualification requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other related field. Five (5) years of supervisory and/or progressively responsible experience in a related field. Or an equivalent amount of experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Must pass a background check and pre-employment and on-going random drug testing. Employees authorized to drive employer vehicle must possess a current valid Nevada driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record as determined by the Tribe’s insurance company. Preference given to qualified Tribal and Indian applicants in accordance with 25 CFR. Pays $26.08 – $31.15/hr. Position closes February 23rd at noon.
