POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Tribal Cannabis Regulatory Compliance Manager/Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the Tribe’s cannabis business activities comply with applicable tribal and state regulations. This role involves researching, analyzing, and interpreting cannabis-related legislation and tribal ordinances, developing compliance materials, and coordinating with tribal regulatory bodies and state agencies to support the regulation of the Tribe’s cannabis operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and analyze complex cannabis regulations and legislation, including tribal ordinances, state laws and regulations, and intergovernmental agreements.
- Draft clear, concise summaries of regulations, questions for facility audits, and action items to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Monitor changes in tribal ordinances and state laws and regulations that affect cannabis businesses operating on tribal lands.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Tribe’s cannabis business operations and Tribal Marijuana Control Board, assisting with enforcement, rulemaking, and regulatory development.
- Support the Tribal Marijuana Control Board by preparing agendas, actions items, resolutions, meeting minutes, etc.
- Participate in developing and refining tribal cannabis regulations and policies, including attending Tribal Marijuana Control Board meetings, preparing draft regulations, and providing recommendations.
- Conduct regular compliance checks and audits of tribal cannabis facilities to ensure adherence to laws and regulations and develop audit reports.
- Collaborate with tribal leadership and management to identify, investigate, and resolve any compliance issues.
- Develop, maintain, and revise tribal cannabis compliance records and policies and procedures to align with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with tribal and state agencies on compliance-related matters and permitting processes.
- Educate tribal cannabis business employees and leadership on regulatory changes and best practices for compliance.
- Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or equivalent required; some certification or college coursework in cannabis regulation, public policy, compliance, or related fields preferred.
- Some experience in a regulated industry (cannabis, environmental, food safety, or similar) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and reading comprehension skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize legislation and ordinances.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Spreadsheets, Drive).
- Familiarity with tribal governance processes, intergovernmental relations, and permitting requirements for cannabis businesses.
- Understanding of the relationship between tribal, state, and local regulations.
- The duties of this position include the operation of a motor vehicle. Individuals hired to this position must possess a valid State of Nevada driver’s license and must remain insurable under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
