Under the general supervision of the Environmental Manager, the Equipment Operator will oversee daily project progression. The Equipment Operator will operate one or more types of heavy equipment to mechanically remove Salt Cedar (tamarisk) from designated areas in the Tribal Wetlands and pile in designated areas for burning. Must complete mandatory safety training. Oversee project laborers. Mechanically eradicate a minimum of 60 acres of Salt Cedar from the Tribal Wetlands. Duties may include raking, loading, burning and cutting. Will perform duties in such a manner that the projects assigned by the Environmental Manager will be completed promptly, safely and efficiently. Oversee project progression and update supervisor daily. Will work with the Environmental Manager and other designated persons, to develop and complete job requirements. Other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent. Two (2) years’ work experience in heavy experience in heavy equipment operations or closely related field. Preference given to qualified Tribal and Indian applicants in accordance with 25 CFR.
